If anyone wants to experieince the back seat of a state of art GT450 flexwing microlight then let me know by e-mail ( nick@fesautogas.co.uk) or come and ask next time i'm at caernarfon going for a fly, and you'll be more than welcome. Experieince what a 100 hp, 100 mph, 1500 ft / min climb rate and full all round vision feels like. It's got all the toys - Mode S, PCAS, GPS, Strobes, 4 stroke engine, infact this is the same model that recently flew to Australia, so definalty not a toy it's self. Come on, try it. Nick.

Just wandering whether anyone has ever had any brilliant back-seat trips that they want to share with us all.

I have back seated a few times. When I hadn't flown all that much I really enjoyed it, but now I find that it tries my nerves too much! Not being able to control the aircraft makes me a tad nervous!

Now there is a story I might have to delve in to further on Saturday!

Having done this a few times complements of the guys here at EGCK, I can best describe it as motorbiking and flying at the same time. Absolutely great fun.
Accept the offer and give it a try.

A flexywingy thingy to Australia? How did they do that Nick? Fold it up and post it? I found 22 hours on a 747 operated by the world's favourite airline (hmm, don't get me started on that one) to Oz bad enough!

Fold it up and post it....that is funny, I like that one. No, It's even more amazing than that. It was flown there by a blind man! Seriously! Confused? well it took 250 hours to get there from england to australia in a GT450 micrloight like mine, so Click or copy this link here and read about it. http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=451718&in_page_id=1770www.seeingisbelieving.org.uk/microlightadventure. The first one is the mail on sunday report, the 2nd link the charity it was done for. the movie link of the final landing here - http://www.kamera.com/content/anm/Australia_Blind_Pilot.asxNow the serious stuff is done with, i should be replying to you like this. 22 hours on a 747, i'm surprised it took that long. Did i ever tell you about the time i flew to the North pole in my GT450 in just under 18 hours, well it was cold and white and.....................I can dream can't i ! Now back to the point of this section, back seat in a microlight. I'm off to the lake district and the scottish borders this Sunday for the day if the weathers not to Blowie. Rain and otherstuff i can put up with but big winds, i might not get back in the day! ......Unfortualty the back seats booked this journey, but next adventure who's up for it? Paul? N.

Found a picture or 2 on my phone today of my Daughter Myfanwy, going for her first flight in the back of my yellow GT Flexwing.
She is 7 years old and was absolutly terrified before this point and would never go flying even in a cessna or the likes. Then one day out of the blue, having seen others going flying with me, she said she wanted to have a litle fly.
Well the day was 100% perfect for me to take her, so i didn't hesitate. She was strapped in, we chatted all the time, and we took the climb out and the flight as calmly as possible. The flight in total, was only 15 mins over tot he newborough forest lighthouse thingy, and back. She loved it.
I also then bought her a log book so she can log all her flights, which she loves the idea of. Since then, she's a convert, she loves to fly although she's a little bit nervous at first. i'm sticking to the local area, and very importantly, to only flying during calm weather till she gets more flights under her belt.
Nick

I've sold my GT450 i'm afraid and moved over to the dark side in going 3 axis.....the big plus point is it's a 3 axis microlight! A Ikarus C42. I've done my conversion and are now building up some hours to get use to it. I must say i really enjoy flying the C42. Its quite quick, gives good litres per hour and even has cabin heater! For people not knowing what it is, it's also avalible as a GA craft but in microlight format is identical but just slightly lighter to come under the 450 MAUW. It's got a rotax 912 engine - 80 hp, maximum trimable crusie 105 kts, maximum 120 kts, 1000 ft cllimb, electric trim, 65 ltr fuel tank oh and it runs on unleaded. for full info go to http://aerosportuk.com/acatalog/ikarus-c42.html and have a look at all the specs. taking it easy, at 4300 rpm, at 85 kts, i'm doing around 10 to 11 ltrs an hour, which makes it a economical flier to use all the time. I've also added my normal extra's like Mode S, PCAS, landing light and Garmin 496, about to add a couple more strobes as it only came with 1 single tail unit. So if anyone fancys a fly with me, let me know and you can join me. Nicky Boy.
