Hi All

I am trying to organise a visit to the British Aerospace at Broughton and have now had a reply from them.   I have included their reply for you to see.   If you are interested in going on a visit please send me an email reply as soon as possible so I can keep them fully informed of our intentions.    I thought we might go at the end of October or early November on a Monday or Wednesday.

Regards to all, Peter

Hi Peter

Thank you for your email.   I am coordinator for the West Factory (A380) only so you would need to contact Angela Ferguson for visit to the East, for production of Single Aisle and Long Range aircraft.

We do not have dedicated guides to host tours but ask for Airbus personnel to give support when possible, but the best days for visit are Monday or Wednesday from 2pm.  The visit takes approximately 1 hour, including a health and safety induction.  There are quite a few stairs to climb so please keep in mind for anyone of your group who may have difficulty with this. We will also be walking across a mezzanine floor, not suitable for ladies small stiletto or kitten heels.

Groups are a maximum of 20. Airbus Charity Challenge support Air Ambulance and we ask that our visitors donate £5 per head to this charity at the end of the tour.   Our Charity Challenge Coordinator is Nicky Hickman (copied above) if you wish to contact her regarding this payment.

There is a site security form to complete and return prior to your visit.  I will send this to you once we have agreed a time/date and numbers.

Kind Regards

Alli

Hindsight is a wonderful thing....

If it were possible to do it again, it would have been good to have the cafe upstairs with a view over the Colditz fence, as many airfields do. Would perhaps need an external staircase leading to the tables outside when the weather's nice though.

Then the ops team could have been where the cafe is now so that they could see what was going on and who was coming and going.

But that's not what we've got so there we are...

I wonder too!...I personally think the new building has become a wasted opportunity...bit of a white elephant..seems full of offices with people in little rooms  pushing bits of paper around all day!... the outside still looks a tired and worn out and still stuck in the 80's....This airfield has so much potential.. Cry

Having viewed the airport from Roys office recently, I wonder why the cafe, "bistro" could'nt have been installed there!
